The technique comes first, followed by the scene, action, performance and duration. Paste it straight into a video model and swap in your own characters and plot.
The camera tracks horizontally from left to right, facing the same direction throughout, parallel to the subject at a constant distance, in a perfectly straight line. At a night market, baskets of fruit sit side by side; as the camera reaches the fourth stall, a teenage boy is crouched on the ground relabeling rotten oranges. He glances toward the camera, looks back down and mutters, “These can still sell.” 3 seconds, constant-speed track, half a second of stillness at the start and end.

Common pitfalls
- Confused with a follow shot, so the subject starts turning for no reason.
- The path isn't straight and the shot looks drunk.
- The tracking speed speeds up and slows down.
