The technique comes first, followed by the scene, action, performance and duration. Paste it straight into a video model and swap in your own characters and plot.
The camera follows a woman walking ahead, holding a medium shot; her size and position in frame stay the same while the background keeps flowing backward. On a footbridge after the rain, she walks with her phone to her ear, her shoes splashing through puddles. In the middle of the bridge she stops abruptly, looks back over her shoulder and says into the phone, “I'm not coming back.” 5 seconds, following speed matches her pace, feet don't slide, her face and clothes don't change.
04
Common pitfalls
- The subject keeps shrinking or growing in the frame.
- The feet float, as if on a conveyor belt.
- The person's face or clothes change partway through.
