The camera slowly pulls back from a medium shot of the man, perspective changing with the move, not a zoom out. An empty rented room at dawn: a man sits on the edge of the bed tying his shoelaces, a packed suitcase at his feet. As the camera retreats it reveals IOUs on the wall, unwashed bowls and old cardboard boxes piled by the window. He finishes the laces and says to the empty room, “I'm going,” very softly. 5 seconds, even pull-back, last frame held for about 1 second; the man gets smaller but stays recognizable.

Common pitfalls
- Writing only “pull back” is often rendered as a zoom out, flattening the background.
- Pulling too fast feels like being bounced away.
- Halfway through, the subject gets blocked by foreground clutter or disappears.

Parameter tips
4–8 s; pull from a medium to a wide shot; hold the last frame for about 1 s before the next shot.
