Watch: The camera points straight down and the objects slide into a grid one by one: even spacing, nothing overlapping, like an open illustrated guide.A line-art demo that only illustrates the technique, not finished footage.

straight overhead flat lay, objects arranged on one plane with even spacing and consistent margins, no perspective distortion.

Sample prompt · generate an image directly

The technique comes first, followed by the subject, scene, details and aspect ratio. Paste it straight into an image model and swap in your own subject.

Top-down flat lay shot from directly above, objects arranged on the same plane, even spacing, equal margins at the edges, no perspective distortion. On a light wood table: a latte, an open journal, a fountain pen, a pair of round glasses, a small bunch of dried flowers and a phone. 1:1, no objects overlapping, soft, even light.
04

Common pitfalls

  • The phone held at an angle gives the objects keystone perspective.
  • Laid out too densely, with no breathing room.

Parameter tips

Spell out top-down / 90° overhead, or the model often gives a 45° angle; light from one side so the shadows fall the same way.
