The technique comes first, followed by the scene, action, performance and duration. Paste it straight into a video model and swap in your own characters and plot.
Two shots with exactly the same composition. Shot one: a summer afternoon, an eighteen-year-old girl sits by the window of an old house writing a letter, sunlight on the desk, locked-off camera, 4 seconds. Shot two: the same window, the same desk, in winter; white-haired now, she sits in the same spot reading that yellowed letter, locked-off camera, 4 seconds. Dissolve the two together for about 1 second in the edit.
04
Common pitfalls
- A dissolve in an action scene softens the rhythm.
- If the two compositions don't line up, the overlap is a mess.

Parameter tips
Dissolves are usually done in the editing software; when generating, just line up the composition of the two shots.
