Watch: Facing the camera with the mouth unobstructed, the lips open and close as each word of the voice lands. The waveform below lines up with the mouth movement, and that's what makes the line believable.A line-art demo that only illustrates the technique, not finished footage.

This is a step in making a film, not a visual technique. For the whole process, see Make an AI short from scratch.

Prompt templates are written from how generation models usually behave and have not yet been verified one by one with real generations. “Common pitfalls” are judgment from experience, not official limits.

01

When to use it

Close shots and close-ups with lines, talking-head videos, music videos.

02

Prompt template

medium close-up, the character faces camera, even lighting, clear mouth shapes while speaking, natural expression, only slight head movement, simple background; line: 'I waited for you for three whole years.'

Sample prompt · generate a video directly

The technique comes first, followed by the scene, action, performance and duration. Paste it straight into a video model and swap in your own characters and plot.

Close shot, facing front: the front door on New Year's Eve, a mother looks at her son who has just come in, her eyes red; even, soft light; when she speaks her lips move clearly and her expression is natural, her head moving only slightly, the background a blurred hallway light. Line: “You're home, that's what matters. The dumplings are still hot.” Upload the voice recording of this line first, then generate the lip sync, 5 seconds.
04

Common pitfalls

  • A profile or a covered mouth makes the lip sync fail.
  • Lines too long and the second half drifts out of sync.
  • The voice's emotion doesn't match the face.
05

Parameter tips

Facing front or slightly angled, mouth unobstructed; keep each line under 5 s; settle the voice before generating the lip sync.
